Hannover Re has two boards, namely the Executive Board (Vorstand) and Supervisory Board (Aufsichtsrat).

The Executive Board of Hannover Re is currently composed of seven members. Since 1 July 2009 Ulrich Wallin serves as Chairman of the Executive Board. Further details of the members' various areas of responsibility and their curricula vitae are provided under the item "Executive Board".

The Supervisory Board of Hannover Re is composed of nine members. Since 5 May 2009 the Chair has been held by Herbert K. Haas, Chairman of the Executive Board of Talanx AG and HDI Haftpflichtverband der Deutschen Industrie V.a.G.
