Background in Legal Science

Does this profile look familiar?

  • A university degree in applied legal sciences including a legal internship (Ass. jur., i.e. a German graduate civil servant) or equivalent university degree at a foreign university
  • Interest in highly complex legal-economic issues or further qualification in the area of economic sciences
  • Enjoy liaising with international clients and working together with colleagues of different nationalities
  • Excellent English language skills which ideally you have either acquired or improved during your stay in a foreign country, ideally this includes further foreign languages
  • Creative and inventive, a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ready to provide services at a high level
  • Ideally, prior work experience in (re-) insurance, banking and/or as a broker; alternatively, experience in respect of national laws pertaining to other countries (especially as regards British and/or U.S. Law)

Group Legal Services

Our “Group Legal Services“ department is made up of the “Corporate Matters“ and “Claims and Reinsurance“ units.

 

Corporate Matters

  • This unit mainly deals with legal matters which are of general interest to Hannover Re/E+S Re. This includes
  • Dealing with any issues concerning corporate law
  • Accompanying all matters regarding supervisory law
  • Handling anything from the field of banking and capital market law, involving alternative transactions (even when these contain some elements of reinsurance)
  • All further matters involving civil, criminal and administrative law, in particular as regards contractual reviews 
  • Establishing guidelines in respect of legally relevant issues
  • Handling of lawsuits related to any one of the aforementioned items from an economic point of view
  • Informing affected Divisions/ Local Offices of relevant legal developments (e.g. new laws/bills or topical court rulings)
