Job Profile: Information Technology
"After completing my school-leaving examination and professional training as a savings bank officer I studied commercial information science. So I had a very good foundation for a job in the financial sector.
I learnt through an article in a trade journal that Hannover Re's IT Division employs, among other specialist, software developers. Since I have a keen interest in this field I applied and ultimately joined the IT-Software Development unit.
Today I am responsible for developing and maintaining the software that we use company-wide, a task which means I always need to stay up-to-date with the latest technology. Through supplementary seminars on reinsurance business and project management I am developing a diverse range of skills, thus enabling me to participate throughout the company in programming-related projects and also manage our own software development projects.
