Job Profile: Group Risk Management
"I'm the kind of person who's really into figures, that's what you need in my job. I read mathematics and statistics and worked as a scientific assistant in the Department of Mathematics. I worked a lot on the side and got to know various types of business in this way. Nevertheless, I initially decided to stay on at the University of Hannover. Yet I found the prospects in academia unsatisfactory.
I heard about Hannover Re from an acquaintance and called the company. I was invited to come for an interview. Today, I work as a project manager in Group Risk Management.
Following an introduction to the company and basic courses in reinsurance, which I recommend unreservedly, I started off in life business. My tasks were underwriting and the development of tariffs and new products. After four years I specialised in quotation, pricing models and actuarial calculations. By means of regular English courses the company helps me to improve my language skills.
