Group Legal Services
Group Legal Services is our company's main legal division. Corporate Matters is a department specialising in civil, corporation and commercial law. The department Claims and Reinsurance deals with legal issues and problems arising directly out of reinsurance treaties with clients.
Responsible for claims throughout the world
The Claims and Reinsurance department deals with all legal issues connected with our operational business. The tasks performed by our staff of around 10 include scrutinising coverages, conducting negotiations with clients and assisting in claims-related court proceedings. Since we are active worldwide, fluent English is also an essential prerequisite for our needs. Many colleagues speak several foreign languages, including Spanish, French and various Eastern European languages.
Our most important areas of responsibility at a glance:
- Claims processing, including assisting in legal proceedings
- Analysis of laws etc. and analysis of claims trends worldwide
- Scrutiny of reinsurance treaties and coordination in the case of major claims
- Claims controlling for the Hannover Re Group worldwide
- Knowledge transfer, e.g. seminars and conferences organized internally and for clients
- External audits at clients, so-called "claims audits"
