A non-life insurer based in New York, United States, Clarendon belongs to the Hannover Re Group, one of the largest reinsurers in the world. The company, which has not written new business since going into run-off in 2006, is comprised of four units: Clarendon National Insurance Company, Clarendon America Insurance Company, Clarendon Select Insurance Company and Harbor Specialty Insurance Company.
Clarendon was once the industry leader in program business, although it has now withdrawn from this sector and concentrates exclusively on the management of cancelled programs.
