Underwriter

We are looking to fill the immediate vacancy of an Underwriter in our Treaty Department for Romance-speaking countries for serving clients in the Dutch market. This is a permanent full time position.

Duties:

  • Analyse insurance markets and cedants active in the market
  • Evaluate and price reinsurance submissions
  • Assist in the development of new reinsurance concepts
  • Independently handle all general correspondence, administrative duties and activities associated with treaty administration as well as all contractual correspondence. This will be carried out in coordination with the head of department or senior underwriters.
  • Analyse and assess submissions with a view to deciding whether to accept or decline
  • Look after and visit clients after completing an initial training period

Specifications:

  • Successful candidates will have earned a degree in Economics or Mathematics. Alternatively, they will have undergone and completed vocational training to qualify as an actuary.
  • (Very) strong Dutch language skills (preferably at mother-tongue level) along with (very) strong English and German language skills
  • (Re) insurance knowledge acquired through work experience desirable but not a prerequisite
  • Enjoy dealing with people
  • Very strong analytical skills and excellent numerical skills
  • Willingness to travel
