Infoletter 1/2006 dated 08.05.2006
In this issue of our infoletter we keep ready some interesting information about
- further improvement of our career website since its re-launch in December 2004
- oncoming job fares in the first half of 2006
Improving the provision of useful information for potential new employees
Since most of our recruits (85 %) apply via our internet pages, it is our special interest to make the Career section as informative as possible – and not mob potential recruits off at first glance. By the way, the German career section heads the access statistics of all Hannover Re websites.
In order to keep state-of-the-art status, Human Resources took part in a benchmark of career websites in 2006, as in the previous years. Although the results were overall not bad, Hannover Re’s career pages have some potential for enhancement left.
Of course, we talk about measures which lie within sensible limits of time and budget – Hannover Re is not Coca Cola. Some features may be nice to have. But to set up a complex electronic assessment centre would simply overshoot the mark for a company of about 2000 staff.
Within our limits, however, were several measures which make access to information easier for our potential recruits, as for example:
- Every job posting is now provided with the date of publication and the name of a contact person.
- The information about the location of Hannover Re is now more detailed and restructured.
- Access to specific subjects – such as job descriptions by employees and academic qualifications – is now prominently placed in containers.
- The online application form is now accompanied by online help texts placed in containers at the right margin as well as corresponding PDF-files with explanations for downloading.
- Every one sending in a question or commend receives an automatically generated E-Mail to confirm receipt of the inquiry.
