Environment

Hannover Re is a partner in numerous initiatives for climate and environmental protection. The company's stated aim is to reduce emissions as far as possible. The carbon dioxide emissions of 8,123 tonnes caused by Hannover Re in 2011 at the Hannover offices were 98% offset. The following pages provide an overview of Hannover Re's environmental principles, an outline of individual projects and a breakdown of the most important environmental data.

Environmental Principles

Hannover Re has not as yet adopted any guidelines on environmental and climate protection issues that are mandatory for the entire Group. Yet the company is committed unequivocally to its responsibility. This is also clearly reflected in the direct responsibility assumed by the Executive Board for these matters. At the operational level Facility Management collects all relevant data and takes responsibility for constant optimisation of the use of energy and resources.
