Successful, responsible and sustainable business practices are both the foundation and the prerequisite for Hannover Re's ability to play a positive role in society.
For our company, sustainability is a factor that determines our actions above and beyond purely economic considerations. This is true, on the one hand, of the further and advanced training programmes for our staff. On the other hand, we also strive for sustainable engagement in our social projects. What is more, it is the stated objective of Hannover Re to keep environmental impacts as low as possible and, where feasible, to consistently reduce them.
In the following pages Hannover Re offers insights into these aspects of sustainability. It is not yet a sustainability report in full conformity with international standards. Nevertheless, the issue of sustainability constitutes a major integral component of our corporate strategy and covers the following key areas:
