Donations
In addition to the social commitment of employees, Hannover Re's commitment is already clearly defined in the Code of Conduct. Item 4 states with binding effect for the entire Group worldwide:
"We take pride in our contributions to the arts, sciences and culture as well as other social causes and make donations for these purposes. Applications must be made for all donations to the Executive Board, the prior approval of which is required. Specifics, such as the areas for which donations are to be made as well as the criteria according to which such donations are awarded, are defined in the Donations Guideline of Hannover Re approved by a resolution of the Executive Board".
The company donates a total of EUR 100,000 per year in support of various projects; the funds are shared equally between the following categories:
- Social and scientific causes
- Environment and climate protection
- Staff (further and advanced training, compatibility of work and family life)
- Protection and welfare of young people
- Advancement of medicine/humanitarian projects
The awarding of donations is guided above all by the criterion of benefit to the public.
