Equal Treatment

Hannover Re's Code of Conduct applicable worldwide stipulates that nobody may be disadvantaged on the basis of gender. In practical terms, the company upholds this standard in a broad variety of ways. Job postings, for example, are always advertised in gender-neutral language. Candidates are appointed solely on the basis of their skills and qualifications. As a result, Hannover Re's labour force breaks down roughly equally into men and women. On the management level the situation is different: of 73 executive personnel in Germany, eight are female. The proportion of women thus stands at 11.0%.

Salary increases and promotions follow a clearly defined process. Promotions are always coordinated between the specialist area, Human Resources Management, the Executive Board and the Employee Council. The individual promotion levels are governed by transparent promotion criteria published online in the Intranet that are similarly based purely on skills/qualifications.

In order to safeguard the transparency of its payroll policy, the company has agreed on salary bands with the Employee Council; these are also accessible to all members of staff in the Intranet. The salary bands are guided by the generally applicable collective bargaining groups.
