Strategic orientation

  • In the life reinsurance business group Hannover Re focuses on long-term customer relationships that offer sustained profitability. Growth is targeted in areas where Hannover Re enjoys special expertise.
  • Particular efforts are made to expand know-how and infrastructure in the Asian growth markets and – with a view to reinforcing our local market position – in various continental European countries.

Diversification: Five-pillar model

  • The life reinsurance business group stands on five robust pillars: financial solutions, new markets (senior citizens' market, Retakaful), bancassurance, multinationals and highly selective conventional reinsurance.
  • Market leadership is actively targeted in the area of new business financing for life, annuity and personal accident portfolios as well as in the senior citizens' market.

Quantitative targets

  • Double-digit growth in premium volume and operating profit (EBIT)
  • EBIT margin of at least 6.5%-7.5% relative to net premium earned.
