Contract Reinsurance

Contract reinsurance (also known as obligatory reinsurance or treaty reinsurance) is the reinsurance of complete primary insurance portfolios or parts of them. In contrast to this, individual risks can be reinsured. Our facultative reinsurance department along with the Direct and Facultative department are responsible for this. Another example is the department Marine, Aviation & Space, UK/Ireland. The former deals mainly with property, liability and energy, whereas the latter deals mainly with transport, space and aviation insurance. Both departments work on a worldwide basis. In addition, there are three market departments which sell reinsurance according to business fields.

These are:

Finance & Accounting

Economists in Corporate Accounting work mainly on financial statements and consolidated financial statements in accordance with HGB und IFRS. The Technical Accounting and Claims department looks after accounting arising from contracts and damage assessment of reinsurance contracts. This department is organised in the same way as our market departments, which means that both specialist and foreign language knowledge are required. Company reporting, looking after our branches and complex accounting processes such as portfolio transfers or intercompany transactions, are further exciting tasks in this large department. The majority of our economists work in the above mentioned departments, but this is just a part of the topics which Hannover Re offers to economists. There are other interesting jobs in specialist positions available, depending on degree majors and suitable work experience.

Although you will find in these departments the majority of economists working for us, here we can only can get a glimpse of some of the topics that economists busy themselves with at Hannover Re. With an appropriate focus in the field of studies or by corresponding professional experience, other interesting opportunities open up for economists in designated positions.
