North America treaty reinsurance
Having started with our first acceptance in 1972, our involvement in the North American market has consistently grown through the cycles. While all underwriting is done directly out of Hannover, we maintain a local presence in the Chicago area. This is the base of our United States support marketing team and our experienced underwriting and claims audit group. Hannover Re has obtained accredited status in all 51 United States jurisdictions. Backed by the master trust fund our United States clients enjoy an unsurpassed level of security. Our Canadian business is written out of our office in Toronto.
Germany treaty reinsurance
With its exclusive focus on German insurers, Hannover Re's majority owned and fully integrated subsidiary E+S Rückversicherung AG is the dedicated reinsurer of choice for more than 100 cedants in our home market. E+S Rück's roots date back to 1923. It is licenced to write all lines of business including life and health.
Austria, Switzerland and Italy treaty reinsurance
Our home office is writing treaty business for Austria, Switzerland and Italy with support for the latter from our office in Milan.
French speaking countries (including those in North Africa), Northern and Eastern Europe, Greece, Turkey and Israel treaty reinsurance
This division writes property and casualty treaty business in currently 35 different countries from our offices in Hannover, Paris and Stockholm. We are among the top three companies operating in the emerging CEE markets with significant shares particularly in non-proportional reinsurance and we operate in all lines of property and casualty business in which we quote and lead all types of treaty. In the developed markets of Central and Northern Europe we focus on traditional treaty reinsurance for standard lines of reinsurance business.
