P&C treaty business is core to Hannover Re. Most of the business is centralised in our office in Hannover, but we see a great value in writing the Nordic treaty portfolio out of the local office in Stockholm. This brings our underwriting closer to our clients, still with the capacity and support of the whole group. With our strong rating and longstanding relations in the market, we are a reinsurance partner to most Nordic insurers – from the smallest local companies to the largest Pan-Nordic players.
Our facultative operations have a bloodline descending decades. It is safe to say we have been in the forefront of facultative reinsurance in the Nordic countries for a very long time. Our guiding principles remain the same, experts providing flexible and timely solutions to risk requirements for insurance companies, captives and brokers. Being experts within their fields, many of our very experienced underwriters are also members of so called “Centres of Competence” within Hannover Re, providing expertise and experience to colleagues around the world. Our major market is, of course, the Nordic countries but the Stockholm office is also responsible for facultative business in the Baltic States and Israel.
In addition to our professional underwriting, our back office functions form a fundamental part of the department. From accounting to legal and claims, our team carries the highest level of expertise to the benefit of our business partners.
