We regularly look for working students to support our divisions, for periods from just three months up to two years during your studies. They work in roles in IT, for example, but also Financial Management, Group Risk Management and Underwriting in Life & Health and Non-Life reinsurance. Don't worry if you're not familiar with the reinsurance business. We'll give you everything you need to get started.

Our working student programme gives you the opportunity to work alongside your studies in an area that suits your specialism. You can work up to 20 hours a week and earn more money than other part-time jobs. You will also gain valuable work experience and make contacts for your future career. If you want to work for us as a working student, you must be currently registered as a student and prioritise your studies. You can also work more during the vacations as long as you adhere to the 26-week rule. This states that you may only work more than 20 hours per week for a maximum of 26 weeks per year.
Clearly, numbers play an important role in the insurance business. Therefore, we welcome students with a business or STEM focus. If you have also taken specialist subjects such as controlling, accounting, insurance management, actuarial mathematics, statistics or stochastics, we would be delighted to hear from you. We also welcome previous work experience – ideally in the insurance or financial services sector. But you can also apply without specialisation subjects. We are more interested in your willingness to learn, your focus on solutions and your pragmatic approach. By the way, we hope you are comfortable speaking English. As an international organization, we use English in our day-to-day work.
Fair treatment of working students is important to us, which is why we take our time with the application and selection process. You can apply via our job portal. Our team of Recruiting Advisors will check that your application is complete and that you are a good fit for us. If both are the case, we will forward your application to the relevant division head and HR. You will then be invited for a personal interview. If we find that we share a common vision for working together, we go from there. You can find out more about our application process for working students here.
"In October 2023, I was warmly welcomed as a working student in Hannover Re's sustainability team. As a Master's student in the natural sciences, Hannover Re offers me many new insights and perspectives on economic aspects – experiences that also contribute greatly to my personal development. In addition, I have been able to contribute very well so far and look forward to continuing to support the team. I can therefore very well imagine a future at Hannover Re after completing my Master's degree."
