Finance Global Services connects finance, data, and systems and supports Hannover Re’s global CFO function as a central service unit. We bring together actuarial, accounting, and reporting expertise and ensure that financial processes and systems run reliably across the Group and continue to evolve.

As a globally oriented unit, we work closely with Group Finance, CFO teams, and local entities around the world. Our focus is on contributing our know‑how where it creates value: developing scalable solutions, streamlining processes, and sustainably improving the quality and transparency of financial data across finance, accounting, and actuarial disciplines.

Financial Accounting brings together financial accounting, group consolidation, and reporting into a holistic process at our Hanover location. The scope includes cash management to ensure smooth payment processes, preparation of statutory financial statements under German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS, the IFRS Group financial statements, planning and forecasting, and the overall coordination of reporting processes as a foundation for sound business decisions.

In addition, the team is responsible for quantitative Solvency II reporting and further regulatory reporting, for example to Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). To support these tasks, we actively shape and continuously develop a modern financial IT landscape. Typical roles include Financial Accountants, Cash Managers, and specialists in Financial Reporting.

Reinsurance Accounting is responsible for key financial processes within the reinsurance business. These include reinsurance accounting, claims processing, and premium collection for our international business partners.

We provide essential input for quarterly and annual financial statements prepared under international accounting standards and ensure that premiums, claims, and contractual components are accurately reflected in financial reporting. At the same time, we support our international locations with finance, tax, and legally related matters.

A further focus lies in the area of Digital Accounting. Together with IT, we develop solutions to automate and advance accounting processes – for example through robotic process automation (RPA) and digital data extraction tools. This reduces manual effort, improves data quality, and actively shapes the future development of systems and processes.

Our work requires solid accounting expertise as well as a sound understanding of reinsurance contracts and market dynamics. Close collaboration with underwriting, actuarial teams, international finance units, and external partners is therefore essential.

Typical roles include positions in Reinsurance Accounting or Financial Reporting with a focus on process digitalisation and automation.

Reinsurance Valuation & Steering combines actuarial expertise, controlling and strategic steering for the reinsurance business in Life & Health as well as Property & Casualty.

We analyse and assess business performance, calculate actuarial reserves, prepare planning and forecasts, and interpret results in the context of the Group strategy. Close exchange with colleagues from underwriting, IT, and accounting, as well as with international teams, is an integral part of our work. The continuous development of methods and systems also plays a key role.

This creates a consistent and aligned view of portfolio development across forecasts as well as quarterly and annual financial statements and across different accounting standards. The area therefore supports management in defining and steering strategic targets.

Typical roles include Actuaries, Valuation Analysts, Controllers, and positions at the interface between Finance and Actuarial.

Group Taxation ensures that Hannover Re meets all relevant tax requirements worldwide. The teams deal with tax‑related issues in both national and international contexts and analyse the tax implications of business activities and transactions.

This includes supporting financial reporting processes, assessing tax risks, and cooperating closely with tax authorities and external advisors. Due to Hannover Re’s global presence, international tax law plays an important role.

Investment & Collateral Management oversees Hannover Re’s investments, analyses the capital structure and designs collateral arrangements within the reinsurance business.

Within Investment Management, the team is responsible for the strategic steering of the investment portfolio. Implementation is carried out via external asset managers who are guided by clearly defined investment guidelines. The aim is to achieve a balanced risk‑return profile. At the same time, the team ensures comprehensive investment reporting and analyses developments across global capital markets.

In Collateral Management, we develop and manage collateral structures for international reinsurance activities, such as letters of credit or restricted securities accounts. This involves close cooperation with internal stakeholders, international entities, banks, primary insurers, and brokers.

Corporate Finance focuses on optimising Hannover Re’s capital structure in line with the requirements of rating agencies and supervisory authorities.

Typical roles include Investment Analysts and specialists in Collateral Management.

Investor & Rating Agency Relations acts as the interface between Hannover Re and the capital markets. The team ensures that investors, analysts and rating agencies gain a clear and consistent understanding of the Group’s development and strategy.

This includes preparing financial information and supporting investor dialogue through roadshows, conferences, and investor days. In addition, the team coordinates the Group‑wide rating process and maintains close relationships with rating agencies. Another key responsibility is the preparation and continuous development of financial reports, ensuring consistent and comprehensive information for the capital markets.

Typical roles include Investor Relations Specialists, Rating Specialists, and positions in Financial Communications.

The Costs & Capacity Controlling function is responsible for cost steering at Hannover Re. The team manages the group-wide cost planning process, analyzes cost developments, supports the strategic planning of resources, and accompanies investments across the company. In addition, we create transparency with regard to available resources and support informed decision-making regarding resource allocation and capacity management.

Our goal is to provide transparency on costs and capacities and to promote cost-conscious decision-making across the organization. Typical roles in this area include Cost Controller.

Coordination International Operations connects Hannover Re’s international locations with central functions in Hannover. The area supports governance, financial, and regulatory processes and ensures that information from different entities is brought together effectively.

Activities include supporting the steering and financing of international entities, assisting with regulatory requirements, and contributing to international projects and structural changes. The work provides insights into diverse markets and business models and requires close collaboration with colleagues around the world.

Typical roles include Operations Coordinators, International Operations, and M&A Consultants.
