The Group Strategy team is responsible for Hannover Re’s strategy process. This begins with an analysis of our internal strengths as well as the market and competitive environment within the reinsurance sector.

Based on these insights, the team supports the Managing Board in developing the Group strategy and coordinates the Group‑wide strategy process. This includes managing the strategy portfolio and supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives throughout the respective strategy cycle.

The work combines market analysis, strategic planning and close collaboration with a wide range of business areas across the company. Typical roles in this area include Strategy & Planning Consultants.

Sustainability plays an important role at Hannover Re, as it is closely linked to the risks and developments shaping the reinsurance business. Topics such as climate change, societal transformation, and evolving regulatory requirements influence markets, risk profiles, and business models over the long term.

The Sustainability team therefore focuses on the strategic development of Hannover Re in these areas. The aim is to integrate sustainability aspects into the group strategy and centrally coordinate sustainability activities across the organisation.

The team works closely with Property & Casualty Reinsurance, Life & Health Reinsurance, as well as Finance and Risk Management. Together, they analyse and further develop topics such as climate risks, sustainable investments, and ESG considerations within the reinsurance business. In this way, sustainability is embedded in strategic decision‑making, ensuring that Hannover Re is well prepared for change in the global risk environment. Communications at Hannover Re plays a key role in connecting people, ideas, and strategy. We work closely with our internal stakeholders in a global context to deliver clear, consistent, and credible communication. As a trusted advisor, we use communication as a strategic tool to support the success of Hannover Re’s business.

In internal communications, we ensure colleagues are informed about the strategy and company-wide business topics across global and local levels. We foster dialogue through the intranet and live formats such as our Global Town Hall and support leaders in their communication.

In external communications, we manage Hannover Re’s global media relations, as well as our website and social media channels. We ensure a clear, consistent, and credible presence for external stakeholders by supporting our Executive Board and our experts across the business in communicating their topics. To do so, we handle media enquiries, coordinate interviews and press conferences, and write corporate news on our financial results and other topics. In addition, we manage and continuously develop Hannover Re’s digital communication platforms, including our website and LinkedIn presence.

In addition to activities within our business segments, Hannover Re pursues Group‑wide sustainability objectives. These include responsible corporate governance, sustainable investments, and the management of climate‑related risks.
