The Supervisory Board of Hannover Re has appointed Claude Chèvre as a full member of the Executive Board. He will take up his duties effective 1 February 2012 at the latest.
Mr. Chèvre's appointment coincides with the departure of Wolf Becke. Becke, who as a member of the Executive Board has played a pivotal role in the development of the life and health reinsurance group since 1991, is retiring on 1 January 2012.
Working in concert with Board member Klaus Miller, Claude Chèvre will henceforth assume responsibility for the life and health reinsurance business of the Hannover Re Group.

Mr. Chèvre (44) holds a degree in mathematics and is a Swiss citizen. After graduating he embarked on his professional career in 1995 at Union Reinsurance Company Life & Health in Zurich. Following the company's integration into the Swiss Re Group Mr. Chèvre bore responsibility for the Spanish market. He subsequently held various managerial positions in life and health reinsurance business; in 2002 he was appointed as a member of the Senior Management of Swiss Re. After two years with Winterthur Insurance Group he joined PartnerRe, Zurich, in 2007, where as a member of Senior Management he was initially responsible for the development of Asian business. Since 2008 he has served as Head of Life for Asian markets, Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
