Chris Shanahan joins Hannover Life Re as Executive Vice President, Mortality Solutions. In this role, Chris will have overall responsibility for managing Hannover Life Re’s traditional life reinsurance business, including business development and operations. Chris has an extensive background in life reinsurance, most recently as interim Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of Business Development for Scottish Re. Prior to joining Scottish Re, Chris served as Vice President-Product Solutions & Research at ING Re, and 2nd Vice President & Managing Director of Pricing for Lincoln Re. Before joining Lincoln Re, Chris served in several actuarial capacities within the Lincoln National Corporation encompassing valuation, asset-liability management, and pricing. Chris will be based in the Charlotte, North Carolina office.
Jay Biehl joins Hannover Life Re as Senior Vice President, Pricing and will be responsible for pricing and research for the Mortality Solutions Group. Jay has over 20 years in the reinsurance industry, most recently as Senior Vice President, Research & Analysis with Scottish Re. Prior to joining Scottish Re, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Tower Bank and Trust Company. Formerly, Jay served as Chief Pricing Officer for ING Re following 18 years with Lincoln National, primarily with Lincoln Re where he served in a variety of roles including Chief Pricing Actuary and Head of Research and Development. Jay will be based in the Charlotte, North Carolina office.
Lonny Meewes joins Hannover Life Re as Vice President, Marketing. Lonny’s career spans over 15 years in the life insurance and reinsurance industry. Most recently, Lonny served as Senior Vice President and Actuary for Scottish Re and was responsible for the pricing and treaty functions. Prior to joining Scottish Re, Lonny served as Assistant Vice President and Associate Actuary with Universal American Financial Corp. Lonny was an Assistant Actuary for Royal Maccabees Life Insurance Company, and began his career as an Actuarial Analyst with the Federal Home Life and Harvest Life Insurance companies. Lonny will be based in the Charlotte, North Carolina office.
Lisa Smith joins Hannover Life Re as Senior Vice President, Operations and will also serve as Hannover Life Re’s Denver Site Manager. In this role, Lisa manages Administration, Claims, Client Data Management, and Treaty Compliance for the business. Lisa has over 25 years in the life insurance and reinsurance industry, including most recently as Senior Vice President, Operations with Scottish Re. Previously, Lisa served ING Re as Vice President of Business Operations, Executive Director of strategic planning and organizational development, and Director of Business Operations. Prior to joining ING Re, Lisa worked for ING Security Life of Denver. Lisa will be based in the Denver, Colorado office.
