Questions about the dual study programme
- You have or are currently completing a (specialised) university entrance qualification (Abitur) with good to very good grades.
- Your German is business fluent and your English is conversational.
- Ideally, you should have a working knowledge of another foreign language.
- You enjoy working with numbers.
- You are open and enthusiastic about both new challenges and administrative tasks.
- You can work well in a team but also independently and enjoy networking in an international working environment.
The Business Administration program at FHDW in Hannover offers fundamental business administration knowledge and specialised insurance industry expertise. During the practical placements at our company, you can apply the knowledge you have gained in the divisions and gain professional experience.
We will finance your entire studies at the FHDW and cover the costs of your IHK examination. Throughout your studies you will receive a training allowance in accordance with the collective agreement. We will also reimburse you €50 per semester for additional course materials.
So far, we have successfully offered employment opportunities to all dual students upon completion of their studies.
The academic year starts in October each year. However, before you start your studies, we ask you to complete a one-month internship in our organisation. The study blocks at the FHDW last three months and alternate with the practical phases in our company.
After two years, you will sit for the examination to become an insurance and financial investment specialist at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Hannover. At the end of the three-year course, you will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Business Administration specialising in insurance.
You can apply to start your apprenticeship with us in the spring of the following year. The selection process usually starts in October. The first step involves an initial assessment, followed by participation in an assessment centre alongside colleagues from the HR division.

We recognise that reinsurance is a specialised industry and that many people will come into contact with it for the first time when learning about Hannover Re. That is why we organise induction sessions at the start of the programme to give you a comprehensive insight into how reinsurance works. You will receive intensive training and support in the different areas of the business to help you gain the specialist knowledge you need.
The dual Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Business Administration specialising in insurance starts every year on 1 September. Please submit your application documents to us by the end of October of the previous year. Please refer to the current vacancy posting for the exact application deadline.

Please submit your school certificate or your last school report. Certificates of your previous practical experience, e.g. from internships, give us a detailed picture of your qualifications. If we are missing a document, we will get in touch with you.
In the case of non-German certificates, you should always include a grading scale that allows us to interpret the grade.
